Overview
Increasing technical and product complexity, shortening 'time to market' windows, and the need for cross-functional integration and fast responses to changing client needs elevate the importance of organising work by projects. This developmental level unit applies knowledge and skills in effectively managing projects, gained by focusing on the central issues of project selection, planning and evaluation. It integrates the socio-cultural elements of management including leadership, problem-solving, stakeholder management and managing uncertainty with the technical elements of scope, work breakdown structure, scheduling and resource allocations. In this unit you will develop practical and career relevant skills to successfully manage various types of projects.

Learning Approaches
This unit uses a variety of teaching and learning strategies to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage projects. This unit uses a blended learning approach to engage with the project management content via online resources (articles and videos), and synchronous lectures and tutorials. Half of the tutorial content is focused on providing training on the use of a project management software.
Feedback on Learning and Assessment
Students will receive feedback in various forms throughout the semester which may include:
- Informal: worked examples, such as verbal feedback in class, personal consultation
- Formal: in writing, such as checklists (e.g. criteria sheets), written commentary
- Direct: to individual students, either in written form or in consultation
- Indirect: to the whole class

Overview
The assessment in this unit aims to support your achievement of the learning objectives for both Discipline Knowledge and Other Graduate Capabilities. Assessment has been designed in order to allow you to:
- Receive feedback on your learning as you progress toward the development of knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes (formative assessment); and
- Demonstrate your learning in order to achieve a final grade (summative assessment).
Students may be required to attend campus or an assessment centre for the purposes of assessment, regardless of the attendance mode for the unit.

Prepare a project scoping document for a project offered through a case study available in class and on Canvas.

Assessment: Project Plan & Schedule
Prepare a Project Plan and a Project Schedule for a chosen project.
Project Plan contains similar scoping information to those in Charter, but it should go further and develop more detailed sub-plans required to effectively carry out the project work. The Plan should also include aspects of sustainability and/or social responsibility evident in the project planning documents.
Project Schedule should be prepared using a project management software and contain the basics of Work Breakdown Structure, Milestones, Gantt Chart, Calendar, Critical Path, Budget, Resource Allocations and Procurement. Tutorials will provide detailed instructions on how to use the project management software.

Learning Approaches
This unit uses a variety of teaching and learning strategies to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage projects. This unit uses a blended learning approach to engage with the project management content via online resources (articles and videos), and synchronous lectures and tutorials. Half of the tutorial content is focused on providing training on the use of a project management software.
Feedback on Learning and Assessment
Students will receive feedback in various forms throughout the semester which may include:
- Informal: worked examples, such as verbal feedback in class, personal consultation
- Formal: in writing, such as checklists (e.g. criteria sheets), written commentary
- Direct: to individual students, either in written form or in consultation
- Indirect: to the whole class

The assessment in this unit aims to support your achievement of the learning objectives for both Discipline Knowledge and Other Graduate Capabilities. Assessment has been designed in order to allow you to:
- Receive feedback on your learning as you progress toward the development of knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes (formative assessment); and
- Demonstrate your learning in order to achieve a final grade (summative assessment).
Students may be required to attend campus or an assessment centre for the purposes of assessment, regardless of the attendance mode for the unit.

Prepare a project scoping document for a project offered through a case study available in class and on Canvas.

Assessment: Project Plan & Schedule
Prepare a Project Plan and a Project Schedule for a chosen project.
Project Plan contains similar scoping information to those in Charter, but it should go further and develop more detailed sub-plans required to effectively carry out the project work. The Plan should also include aspects of sustainability and/or social responsibility evident in the project planning documents.
Project Schedule should be prepared using a project management software and contain the basics of Work Breakdown Structure, Milestones, Gantt Chart, Calendar, Critical Path, Budget, Resource Allocations and Procurement. Tutorials will provide detailed instructions on how to use the project management software.

Overview
Increasing technical and product complexity, shortening 'time to market' windows, and the need for cross-functional integration and fast responses to changing client needs elevate the importance of organising work by projects. This developmental level unit applies knowledge and skills in effectively managing projects, gained by focusing on the central issues of project selection, planning and evaluation. It integrates the socio-cultural elements of management including leadership, problem-solving, stakeholder management and managing uncertainty with the technical elements of scope, work breakdown structure, scheduling and resource allocations. In this unit you will develop practical and career relevant skills to successfully manage various types of projects.
