Overview
Sexual violence remains a critical global issue with profound consequences for individuals and societies. This unit aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to understand, prevent, and respond to sexual violence through a multi-disciplinary lens. By examining historical, social, and institutional factors, you will learn to critically assess the systems that enable sexual violence, and explore evidence-based strategies for its prevention.

On successful completion of this unit you will be able to:
- Critique research, data and Generative AI outputs to inform policies and programs related to sexual violence.
- Evaluate policies, strategies and programs for their potential impact on preventing sexual violence.
- Propose and justify recommendations for improvement of policies and programs that promote informed understanding and prevention of sexual violence.
- Analyse contextual factors that contribute to sexual violence and prevention.

- Systems that influence or respond to sexual violence, affecting both perpetrators and victim-survivors

- Perpetrator prevention programs
- Preventing tech-facilitated abuse

During the unit, you will be required to engage in critical reflection and case-based learning and apply the presented concepts to your own practice and knowledge.

Overview
There are two assessments in this unit:
1. Policy analysis - this task draws on frameworks covered in the unit to analyse a policy related to sexual violence and propose recommended actions.
2. Proposal - this task connects sexual violence prevention principles with the analysis of education programs or campaigns and the design of improved approaches.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment: Policy analysis
You will analyse a sexual violence related strategy or policy relevant to your context, using the socio-ecological framework. You will use Generative AI to undertake an initial analysis of the policy and annotate it with your critique. Building on this, you will produce an improved and final policy analysis with recommended actions for the context.
This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.
Assessment: Proposal
You will take on the role of an expert in sexual violence prevention and you have been asked by the leaders of an education program for prevention of sexual violence to undertake an analysis. As part of your analysis, identify opportunities and/or challenges with the program. Based on your analysis, you will design and propose a response to improve the program. You will record yourself presenting your analysis and proposal for the leaders.
This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.
