You will complete part 2 of the project in the following semester and continue working on the same project with the same team and industry client.
Learning Approaches
This unit includes pre-recorded lectures, tutorials sessions, project meetings. You are expected to attend all tutorial and project meetings. The active learning tutorials sessions are used to embed and apply project management knowledge and skills, interact with your tutor and work with your team members.
There will be regular meetings with your project supervisor(s)(tutor / tutor + any industry supervisor). This is to ensure that you progress in an expected manner and to give you an opportunity to discuss any problems you may have encountered. Feedback and further actions and recommendations will be provided to you during these regular meetings.
Embedded support for learning has been integrated into this unit by providing continual opportunities for formative feedback in workshops, mentoring meetings and through assessment is an integral part of this learning experience. As a 12 CP unit you can expect to spend between 10 - 15 hours per week undertaking your industry project, conducting independent research, attending class and mentoring meetings.
Feedback on Learning and Assessment
This unit provides you with multiple opportunities to receive feedback on your learning and assessment. This includes:
- Teaching team feedback: The teaching staff will provide advice and assistance during class and project meetings. Formal feedback in the form of a rubric and personalised written feedback will be provided on all assessment tasks.
- Academic mentor: Regular 1:1 or small group meetings with your academic mentor.
- Industry expert: You will be encouraged to seek formative feedback on your progress from your industry expert. Your industry expert will provide summative feedback on your project.
- Peers: During class, your peers will provide feedback on your project.
- Unit Coordinator: Consultations with the unit coordinator can be arranged at any time throughout the semester at a mutually convenient time.
Assessment
Overview
The assessment in this unit has been designed to set you up for success in your Industry Project. It does this by requiring you to keep a guided reflection portfolio across the semester. You are also required to undertake the study of an online ethics module, which is must be completed to meet the Australian Computer Society requirements. In the early part of the semester you to produce your written project proposal via a pitch. This will provide a valuable opportunity to receive feedback, which you can action in the final assessment for this unit, i.e. an oral presentation and showcase your project artefact at its current state of design to put you in good stead for the next project unit IFN736.

Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a commitment to undertaking academic work and assessment in a manner that is ethical, fair, honest, respectful and accountable.
The Academic Integrity Policy sets out the range of conduct that can be a failure to maintain the standards of academic integrity. This includes, cheating in exams, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, collusion and contract cheating. It also includes providing fraudulent or altered documentation in support of an academic concession application, for example an assignment extension or a deferred exam.
You are encouraged to make use of QUT’s learning support services, resources and tools to assure the academic integrity of your assessment. This includes the use of text matching software that may be available to assist with self-assessing your academic integrity as part of the assessment submission process.
Breaching QUT’s Academic Integrity Policy or engaging in conduct that may defeat or compromise the purpose of assessment can lead to a finding of student misconduct (Code of Conduct – Student) and result in the imposition of penalties under the Management of Student Misconduct Policy, ranging from a grade reduction to exclusion from QUT.
