Overview
In today’s dynamic workplaces, projects are central to driving innovation, meeting client needs, and managing increasing complexity. In this unit, you will build both individual and team-based project management capabilities as you work in groups acting as consultants to design change programs that meet stakeholder requirements and recommend strategies for performance improvement. You will develop skills in project selection, planning, and evaluation, while learning to apply digital capabilities — including the use of AI for scheduling, risk assessment, decision support, and resource optimisation.

On successful completion of this unit you will be able to:

This unit engages your learning through an approach that draws upon real world problems and cases to introduce concepts and techniques to allow you to apply your knowledge in realistic settings. You will develop your knowledge of project management and have the opportunity to apply the knowledge to build your skills in a team-based approach to organisational change

- Formal: in writing, such as checklists (e.g. criteria sheets), written commentary

Overview
Assessment in this unit is designed to develop your capability to apply core project management tools and practices to real-world scenarios. In Assessment 1, you will prepare a comprehensive project scoping document for a case organisation. In Assessment 2, you will build on this foundation by developing a detailed Project Plan and Project Schedule for your chosen project.

Assessment: Project Charter
You will apply project management knowledge to select and scope a suitable project that addresses a business performance issue by preparing a project scoping document based on the case study provided in class and on Canvas.
The ethical and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools is authorised in this assessment. See the relevant assessment details in Canvas for specific guidelines.
This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.

Assessment: Project Plan and Schedule
You will prepare a Project Plan and a Project Schedule for your chosen project. Your Project Plan will include the core scoping information found in a project charter, but you will take this further by developing the detailed sub-plans needed to carry out the project effectively. You will then create a Project Schedule using project management software, including the essential components of a Work Breakdown Structure, milestones, a Gantt chart, a calendar, the critical path, a budget, resource allocations, and procurement requirements. Tutorials will guide you step-by-step in using the project management software.
