Overview
This unit involves a structured program of study focusing on a select topic or set of topics which you have identified as significant to your professional development in the HRM or Management disciplines. You will contact the unit coordinator before Week 1 to discuss your proposed project and develop an individually tailored learning contract specifying the activity program, assessment submissions, timelines and supervision arrangements. Individual programs will be developed in conjunction with and approved by the unit coordinator before the start of semester. The unit is designed to provide valuable professional portfolio building through advanced level examination of content and the development of self-directed learning skills.

Learning Approaches
The unit is based on self-directed learning and a negotiated learning and assessment contract approved by the Unit Coordinator. The Unit Coordinator/s make a commitment to critical enquiry and intellectual debate in regard to the material covered, and you will relate theories, concepts and contemporary research to your specific topic. The Unit Coordinator/Project Supervisor is available for consultation and guidance to assist your project success. Due to the high weighting of the assessment, students will receive formative feedback throughout the semester from their supervisor to monitor progress.

Assessment: Project (applied)
The project involves the extension and consolidation of prior learning through the exploration of a theoretical or practical problem within the discipline of HRM/Management. You are to create an individual report on a topic significant to your own professional development and/or work, which will be negotiated between yourself and your assigned supervisor. You are required to meet with your supervisor regularly throughout the semester to discuss the development of your project and to receive formative feedback on work completed toward your project report. Assessment due date will be by negotiation with the unit coordinator.

This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.
