Overview
This unit introduces you to the strategic perspective on human resource management and the growing use of evidence based human resource decision making, such as HR analytics, to increase organisational effectiveness. This unit explores how the core roles and functions of HRM, including recruitment and selection, learning and development, and performance and reward management, need to be aligned with organisational strategy to achieve business goals.

The learning approaches used in this unit encourage active participation by students. Activities may include exercises, case studies, real-world examples, scenarios and group activities.

Students will receive feedback in various forms throughout the semester, which may include:
• Informal: worked examples, such as verbal feedback in class, personal consultation
• Formal: in writing, such as checklists (e.g. criteria sheets), written commentary
• Direct: to individual students, either in written form or in consultation

Assessment
Overview
You will complete two assessment items which are designed to assist you in developing a strategic perspective on human resource management and the growing use of evidence-based human resource decision making to increase organisational effectiveness. The first assessment sees you work in a group to develop an oral presentation focussing on a specific organisation culminating in practical, strategic recommendations. The second is a case study where you will individually present actionable recommendations based on a specific issue faced by an organisation.
You will receive feedback on your learning as you progress toward the development of knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes; and demonstrate your learning in order to achieve a final grade.
Students may be required to attend campus or an assessment centre for the purposes of assessment, regardless of the attendance mode for the unit.

Assessment: Group Oral Presentation
Groups will prepare and deliver an oral presentation to analyse the approach to SHRM in a case organisation. Assessment will include Peer Review.

Assessment: Case Study
Students will analyse a case study on strategic human resource management and recommend HR strategies and analytics to address identified workforce issues.

This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.

Overview
You will complete two assessment items which are designed to assist you in developing a strategic perspective on human resource management and the growing use of evidence-based human resource decision making to increase organisational effectiveness. The first assessment sees you work in a group to develop an oral presentation focussing on a specific organisation culminating in practical, strategic recommendations. The second is a case study where you will individually present actionable recommendations based on a specific issue faced by an organisation.
You will receive feedback on your learning as you progress toward the development of knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes; and demonstrate your learning in order to achieve a final grade.
Students may be required to attend campus or an assessment centre for the purposes of assessment, regardless of the attendance mode for the unit.

Groups will prepare and deliver an oral presentation to analyse the approach to SHRM in a case organisation. Assessment will include Peer Review.

Overview
This unit introduces you to the strategic perspective on human resource management and the growing use of evidence based human resource decision making, such as HR analytics, to increase organisational effectiveness. This unit explores how the core roles and functions of HRM, including recruitment and selection, learning and development, and performance and reward management, need to be aligned with organisational strategy to achieve business goals.
