The screen-based industries provide actors with the opportunity to reach wide audiences and to potentially access sustainable careers, nationally and internationally, as well as opportunities to create independent practice. The Actor and the Screen introduces the core technical and analytic skills associated with contemporary acting for camera. The focus is on acquiring an understanding of how to apply analytical skills to dramatic texts written for screen, the development of specific acting techniques sensitive to technical elements such as frame, eyeline and continuity; and an understanding of simple screen production technologies and their associated personnel, workflow and purpose.
