Overview
In the first part of your Diploma you will explore the various dimensions of the “entrepreneurial mindset” and reflect on aspects that resonate with you. You will develop the practice of self-reflection and develop a plan to grow and develop your entrepreneurial identity into the future.
You will explore questions such as what is an entrepreneur? Am I entrepreneurial? What does a successful entrepreneur look like? What does entrepreneurship mean to me? Using a range of self-assessment tools this unit will help you explore and consider what being an entrepreneur means to you, what kind of entrepreneur you aspire to be and where your journey may take you.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit you will be able to:
- Critically reflect on what is meant by entrepreneurship and your role as an entrepreneur in the practice of identifying opportunities for value creation
- Describe the characteristics, attributes and behaviours of individuals who are entrepreneurially minded
- Describe the importance of practicing entrepreneurship in a socially responsible manner incorporating differing perspectives on the meaning of value.
- Reflect upon and evaluate data received from a variety of sources and tools in order to understand your own entrepreneurial mindset
- Demonstrate the capability to prepare a self-development and personal change plan aimed at developing your entrepreneurial mindset and self-identity as an entrepreneur

Learning Approaches
This unit takes a blended approach to learning and teaching. You will be provided with both eContent and timetabled activities such as workshops and tutorials. eContent will be clearly identified on your Canvas site for you to engage with on a weekly basis before your classes. eContent could include videos, readings, self-reflection and/or peer activities designed to enhance your learning experience. During the timetabled activities, the unit coordinator and/or your tutor will further explain content and you will be provided with opportunities to explore this content in a collaborative learning environment. After your weekly classes, you should continue to engage with unit resources to ensure you consolidate your understanding of unit content. Teaching team members will also be available for one-on-one consultations to assist you with your learning journey.
Feedback on Learning and Assessment
Students will receive feedback in various forms throughout the semester which may include:
- Informal: worked examples, such as verbal feedback in class, individual consultation
- Formal: in writing, such as checklists, rubrics, written commentary
- Direct: to individual students, either in written form or in consultation
- Indirect: to the whole class

The assessment you will undertake in this unit will help you explore and unpack the key elements of the entrepreneurial mindset and how they relate to you. You be given the opportunity to think about what kind of entrepreneur you would like to be and importantly, you will set out a plan that you will help you achieve this.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment: Entrepreneurial mindset report
You will self-assess your current entrepreneurial profile, skills, abilities and aspirations and write a report that relates your findings to selected aspects of the entrepreneurial mindset.
This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.
Assessment: Entrepreneurial mindset SWOT poster and presentation
You will undertake a SWOT analysis regarding your key entrepreneurial strengths and weaknesses and consider how these relate to developing a strong entrepreneurial mindset. You will create a digital poster that describes your analysis and present it to the class.
The late submission period does not apply and no assignment extensions are available.
Assessment: Entrepreneurial Identity Self-Development Plan
For this assessment task you will create a self-development plan that incorporates what you have learnt about yourself and your entrepreneurial aspirations throughout the course of this unit. You will be required to make specific reference to the manner in which you will look to enact positive change in a socially and ethically aligned manner.
This assignment is eligible for the 48-hour late submission period and assignment extensions.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a commitment to undertaking academic work and assessment in a manner that is ethical, fair, honest, respectful and accountable.
The Academic Integrity Policy sets out the range of conduct that can be a failure to maintain the standards of academic integrity.
