Minor: Creative Industries

This minor will provide you with diverse knowledge and understanding how the dissemination of fashion is communicated globally.

This minor aims to prepare you with skills and knowledge in the area of visual design and communication for a range of print and electronic media contexts. It will provide you with a foundation in the conceptual and theoretical aspects of visual communication, graphic design and print media, and the technical skills required to apply them in studio projects.

This minor will introduce you to industrial design practices and knowledge and may complement your own discipline and allow you to work more effectively with industrial designers in professional practice.

The following study areas have been discontinued. Students who have already commenced one of these minors will be permitted to complete it.

This minor will introduce you to architectural practices and knowledge and may complement your own discipline and allow you to work more effectively with architects in professional practice.

This minor introduces you to the essential principles of visual and textual literacy. You will develop the fundamental skills of learning, discussing and writing about the history and theory of visual art, architecture and design and understand the historical and contextual frameworks of creative practice in these fields.

This introduces you to the theories and production methods associated with 3D computer generated imagery and animation. It will provide you with a theoretical understanding and practical ability to create CGI Assets, Worlds and Creatures while also building your understanding of CGI production processes and problem solving.

In this minor you will be introduced to the methods, principles and processes employed in creating 3D animation for action and character acting in a narrative context. You will gain an understanding of contemporary animation production technologies underpinned by the historical context of the medium.

This minor provides you with an overview of the skills and knowledge needed for professional communication practitioners.

This minor aims to prepare you with practical skills and technical competence in the area of creative writing across a number of forms and genres.

This minor provides the opportunity to approach dance as a subject for critical, analytical and contextual study. 

This will introduce you to story development, design and pre-visualisation techniques for visual storytelling productions such as animated films. You will develop essential motion design and editing skills required for pre-production process. While focused on animation, the core principles and skills being taught apply to games and live action film development as well. 

This minor develops your foundational knowledge and skills necessary to do critical research (industry or academic) on digital media platforms and audiences.

This minor provides you with the opportunity to acquire basic practical skills in digital media management, including content creation and design.

This minor provides you with the introductory knowledge, theory, and performing skills that underpin performance-making across popular and contemporary genres.

This minor provides you with an understanding of content producing industries, like film and television, at a time when methods of production, distribution, and consumption are undergoing tremendous change.

This minor aims to provide you with a foundational understanding of the design concepts and principles of interaction design and practical skills and methods needed by a contemporary designer of digital and physical interactive products, including an introduction to user-centred design, user experience design, creative coding, web design and prototyping as well as tangible and experiential media.

This minor will introduce you to interior design practices and knowledge and may complement your own discipline and allow you to work more effectively with interior designers in professional practice.

This minor will introduce you to a range of key journalistic principles, approaches and writing styles.

The Music minor aims to impart a broad understanding of music practice in contemporary social, cultural and economic contexts and to provide you with a combination of practical and theoretical technological skills to support a career in music through creative, administrative, and business pathways.

The screen studies minor will develop critical literacy skills in terms of critical writing, analytical and research skills in relation to screen histories, industries, texts and audiences. The minor will provide students with a deep understanding of feature film, television, documentary and screen media, and the ability to critically analyse, research and interpret the impact, structures and the transformation of screen media and their influence in relation to everyday life and social and cultural contexts.

The aim of this minor is to provide you with a broad understanding of writing for interactive environments through the combination of units that look at writing for different screen formats.

You will develop fundamental skills in 2D, 3D, photo, and time-based media while also building your capacity to develop works of art independently that are informed by research into 20th and 21st century art and ideas. This minor is designed to complement creative activities undertaken in other study areas by building your awareness of media, composition and process.
