ENROLING IN UD01 QUANTITY SURVEYING AND COST ENGINEERING UNITS

Entry to study the Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours) (Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering) course is gained via the Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours) (Construction Management). To study the Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours) (Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering):

Step 1.  Submit a change of major (CM) form (online).  You will be notified by email when this process is complete and your study plan has been changed.

Step 2.  When you have received notification that your major has been changed, ensure you enrol online (via HiQ e-student) in the correct discipline units before the census date. 

Accountancy Second Major unit set - BSBXSMJ-ACCSEF

Study Area Description

In this second major you will develop accounting discipline knowledge, critical and analytical thinking, and problem-solving and communcation skills. Discipline units focus on financial and management accounting requirements, specialised applications in company accounting, audit and assurance, tax and company regulation. Key accounting concepts and knowledge, problem solving skills, and critical and analytical thinking are developed throughout the entire major as you learn about contemporary issues facing modern businesses.

Property Economics Second Majors - UDBXSMJ-PROPRTY

Study Area Description

The Property second major is designed to provide Urban Development students with a broad exposure to the various property professions and the theory and practice supporting these professions.  It will build on the primary discipline knowledge of Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning to provide you with a broad knowledge that includes a 'real world' application of how these disciplines interact with the property industry and professions.  The study of this major will further emphasise the interdisciplinary nature of the built environment professions.

Urban Development Second Majors - UDBXSMJ-UBREGPL

Study Area Description

This second major aims to provide students from diverse built environment backgrounds with a sound knowledge of the theories, principles and processes that guide the planning profession. Urban and regional planners design and administer plans and policies at different scales (neighbourhood, local, regional, state) to manage the use of land and natural resources to meet future human needs in a sustainable way. By doing so they work and consult with other built environment professions.

• Please refer to the study sequences to plan your program. You must complete 48 credit points (normally four 12 credit point units) from the specified units to achieve a minor, following semester of offer and unit prerequisites (where applicable) to determine the order of enrolment.
• Any unit(s) that is mandatory in your primary major, can NOT be selected in your chosen minors.
• Any unit(s) that appear in multiple minors can only contribute towards the completion of one of these minors.
• Minors offered by other faculties can be accessed through 'University Wide Minor Options'. Property Economics students may consider a second minor in Economics or Finance. 
• You may also consider a Language Minor Option

Study Area Description

The Property Development minor provides Urban Development students with a more in-depth understanding of the role property plays in the development of the built environment. The units explore the interrelationship between property finance, valuation and market analysis in the property development process. This minor will complement the knowledge and skills developed in your Urban Development Study Area A by demonstrating the link between property development and planning, construction management and quantity surveying and cost engineering.

The Property Investment and Finance minor introduces students to the issues and processes involved in the financing and investment potential of property from both an individual and portfolio perspective. This minor will complement the knowledge and skills developed in the Urban Development discipline primary majors by demonstrating the link between property finance and investment and planning, construction management and quantity surveying and cost engineering.

Study Area Description

The Property Valuation minor is designed to provide Urban Development students with a more in-depth understanding of the role that property value and the valuation process plays in the built environment.  The units explore the various valuation methods employed in the property sector and detail how value plays a critical role in the development, construction andn planning of property assets.
