Overview
Employment opportunities for earth science graduates exist within a variety of government organisations and consulting companies with work ranging from field geologists to research scientists, environmental scientists, and hydrologists. Exploration/mine geologists and environmental scientists are employed by mining and hydrocarbon exploration companies who require graduates with skills that will allow them to undertake underground geological mapping, the evaluation of ore reserves, production control, or exploration for new mineral or oil and gas deposits, as well as the rehabilitation of mined lands. Graduates of the Earth Science Major will also have opportunities to work in government sectors and private consultancies in a range of Earth Science-related fields from environmental to exploration geology.
QUT You
You may be required to complete QUT You units in your course – find out more about QUT You.
