Modes of study
- You will be required to participate in group project-based learning or work integrated learning, which may be conducted off campus.
- You may be required to apply for a Blue Card where project activity involves working with children.

Study overseas
Study overseas while gaining credit towards your QUT creative industries degree with one of our worldwide exchange partners. Overseas study can be for one or two semesters (or during the semester break) and the units you take can be in a creative or non-creative discipline area, depending on how they match with your QUT course. Course Structures
To meet the course requirements of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Creative Writing), you must complete the following:
- Two common units (KYB101 and KYB102) – 24 credit points
- Creative Writing major – 168 credit points
- Complementary studies – 48 credit points from the Situated Creative Practice Extension plus 48 credit points chosen from a minor or unit options (electives).

- 24 credit points from the Situated Creative Practice Project Options list, plus
- 24 credit points from the Work Integrated Learning Options list.
You can complete these units in any order as long as you meet the prerequisite requirements. They are intended to be undertaken in your final year of study.

The below information provides advice for current Creative Industries Faculty undergraduate students who are considering teaching as a career option following the successful completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Creative Industries or Bachelor of Music degree.
Students graduating from their undergraduate degree in 2017 and onwards can apply for entry to EU50 Master of Teaching (Secondary). EU50 is a two year course offered from 2018.
There are a set of minimum requirements for admission to EU50 Master of Teaching (Secondary). The following information meets those requirements and gives you the best preparation for your teaching area.
Prerequisites: first teaching area
For the first teaching area at least three quarters of a year (6 QUT units) of successful full-time higher education study completed in a major area or equivalent. Completed study can be from different courses at bachelor degree level or higher.
Assumed knowledge: second teaching area
For the second teaching area at least half a year (4 QUT units) of successful full-time higher education study in a minor area or equivalent. Completed study can be from different courses at bachelor degree level or higher. Your first and second teaching areas must be different.

Important Enrolment Information:
- Minors offered by other faculties can be accessed through 'University Wide Minor Options' and 'Language Minor Options'. Some minors to consider include: Advertising, Entrepreneurship, Integrated Marketing Communication, International Business, Law, Management, Marketing, Tourism and Entertainment Marketing, and Public Relations.
- Bachelor of Design students will not be permitted to commence a second major or minor until they have completed a minimum of 72 credit points.
- You must complete 48 credit points (normally four 12 credit point subjects) from the specified units to achieve a minor.
