Course Structures
2026 commencing students
In order to complete this course, you must complete a total of 288 credit points made up of:
- Justice core units: 72 credit points
- Justice capstone units: 24 credit points comprising one core unit (12 credit points) and a Justice capstone unit option (12 credit points)
- A Justice major: 72 credit points from one of the following disciplines:
- Criminology and Violence Prevention
- Investigations and Intelligence
- Policy, Politics and Social Reform
- QUT You: 24 credit points
- Complementary studies: 96 credit points made up of:
- Justice First Year unit options - 24 credit points, PLUS
- one 72 credit point second major# (Justice or uniwide); OR
- one Justice minor# and 24 credit points chosen from uniwide unit options (electives); OR
- one uniwide minor* and 24 credit points chosen from Justice unit options (electives); OR
- 72 credit points chosen from unit options (electives). 24 credit points must be chosen from Justice unit options.
#Students may only select a second major or minor different to their primary major or study area A.¿
*Preferred minors include Forensic Investigations and Criminology, however, students can choose any university wide minors.
2025 commencing students
The Bachelor of Justice requires a total of 288 credit points made up of core, major, complementary studies and QUT You.
Justice core units: 7 x 12 credit point units = 84 cp
Study Area A: 8 x 12 credit point units = 96 cp
Select either Criminology and Policing or Policy and Politics major.
Complementary studies: 7 x 12 credit point units = 84 cp
Select a second major, minor and or elective units.
QUT You units: 4 x 6 credit point units = 24 cp
2024 and prior commencing students
The Bachelor of Justice is made up of three parts:
- Core Units - 96 credit points (8 x 12 credit point core units)
- Study Area A (Major) - 96 credit points (8 x 12 credit point units). Choose between Criminology & Policing OR Policy & Governance
- Complementary Studies - 96 credit points (8 x 12 credit point units).
Complimentary Studies can be made up of the following combinations:
- Study Area B (second major) - 72 credit points and 24 credit points of any Justice option units or university wide option units
- Combination of one minor (48 credit points) and 48 credit points of any Justice option unit or university wide option units
- 2 university wide minors (48 credit points each)
