Scholarships
Overview
Graduates will emerge with professional skills in the general application of data analytics. The degree can serve as a pathway to the Master of Data Analytics, where you may specialise in areas of data analytics, data systems development, or data-driven decision making.
You will apply your data mining and modelling skills to perform the analysis of data to inform evidence-based decision making. You will be experienced in understanding statistical methods in this process. As a professional, you will use your broad knowledge of data science tools and techniques to interpret results and design solutions.
Course structures
To graduate with a Graduate Certificate of Data Analytics students are required to complete 48 credit points of course units consisting of:
- 1 Core unit (12 credit points); and
- 3 elective units (36 credit points), selected from an approved list.
Career outcomes
Graduates will have the skills necessary to work in a range of industries including banking and finance, media and communications, health, education, information technology, engineering, agriculture, and mining.
Pathways to further study
The QUT Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics is located at Level 8 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This course provides a pathway to follow on with a Master degree in IN27 Masters of Data Analytics.

Domestic students may need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
Course Structures
PLEASE NOTE: Elective units - IFN552, IFN554, IFN555 and IFN556 are 6 credit point (cp) units (delivered in block mode - 5 week teaching period).
Important: When you select a 6cp unit you must select another 6cp unit (ideally one unit in first half of the semester and the other in the second half of the semester to balance enrolment load).
IFN552. IFN554, IFN555 and IFN556 are delivered in 5 Week teaching sessions commencing in either week 1 or week 9 of semester 1 & 2:
- 5 Week A runs from week 1 to 5 of semester 1
- 5 Week B runs from week 9 to 13 of semester 1
- 5 Week C runs from week 1 in semester 2
- 5 Week D runs from week 9 in semester 2.
Due to the shorter timeframes involved the 5 Week sessions have different enrolment and census dates’.
