Professional recognition
This program is ACS accredited, giving eligibility for ACS membership, recognition by ACS for certification and migration skills assessment, and international recognition by signatories of the Seoul Accord.
Early exit
With appropriate unit selection, students may be able to exit early with the IT10 Diploma in Information Technology.
Pathways to further study
The QUT Bachelor of Information Technology is located at Level 7 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Eligible graduates may continue their studies in these disciplines with an additional honours year in the (IN10) Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) or (IF80) Master of Philosophy course at QUT.
Study costs

Course Structures
To meet the course requirements of the Bachelor of Information Technology, you must complete a total of 288 credit points.
For students commencing from 2024, the degree is arranged as follows:
- Core units - 96 credit points
- A Major – 84 credit points
- QUT You - 24 credit points
- Complementary studies - 84 credit points, made up of:
- a second major (84 credit points), or
- a minor (48 credit points) and elective units (36 credit points).
For students who commenced the course prior to 2024, the degree is arranged as follows:
- Core units - 72 credit points
- A Major – 120 credit points
- Complementary studies - 96 credit points, made up of:
- a second major (96 credit points), or
- two minors (48 credit points each), or
- one minor (48 credit points) and elective units (48 credit points).
For Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, SCB300 Professional Practice unit is available for selection. Save an elective to ensure study plan scope (SCB300 is available for selection in the complementary studies - unit options; and in the core unit option space (for student who commenced the course prior to 2024)). Study Area Description
The User Experience minor develops the knowledge and skills to engage in user experience design activities involving emerging technologies in order to create new forms of human-computer interaction. This minor develops further knowledge of and skills in Human-Centred Design and Human-Computer Interaction. These design skills are fundamental to designing new technology supported services in a wide variety of industries and international contexts. It will lead to employment within software, government, finance, games, manufacturing, mining and service industries. It provides the basis for undertaking an honours or masters degree in this specialisation.

Study area description
It is now very well accepted that the three pillars of scientific discovery are theory, experiment and simulation, and therefore a solid foundation in computational science is an essential skill for students studying across the STEM fields.
