This major reflects the diversity of fashion careers, where communication is crucial to the development of the global Fashion industry. The Fashion Communication major prepares you for current and future careers in the fields of Brand Communication, Product Development, Fashion and Style Journalism, Retail Management, Fashion Illustration and Styling, and Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Fashion Communication units cover history, theory and industry contexts of fashion from both practical and theoretical perspectives. Learning modules cover fashion image making, fashion aesthetics, fashion history and theory, fashion supply chains and sustainable and ethical approaches to fashion product development. You will learn how fashion is communicated, marketed and distributed through industry channels and have the opportunity to develop practical skills in both the technical and expressive communication of fashion across a diverse range of industry contexts and media. More advanced units offer you the opportunity to develop skills in shaping critical dialogues and communicating sophisticated fashion messages. Approaches to learning and teaching include collaborative project based models, team-based practices alongside opportunities for independent learning. Modes of delivery include online, blended and face-to-face. Assessment tasks are authentic to the context of fashion industry practices and global fashion cultures.
