Study costs
Domestic students may need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
Modes of study
- You will be required to attend a multi-day design intensive activity as part of Impact Lab 1: Place.
- You will be required to participate in group project-based learning or work integrated learning, which may be conducted off campus.
- Some units will require completion of specific Health and Safety Inductions before you will be able to undertake activities in workshops and performance facilities or use specialist equipment. See the CI Health and Safety Blackboard site.
Study overseas
Study overseas while gaining credit towards your QUT degree with one of our worldwide exchange partners. Overseas study can be for one or two semesters (or during the semester break) and the units you take can be in either degree area, depending on how they match with your QUT course. Early exit
With appropriate unit selection, you may be able to exit early with either component single degree or DE44 Bachelor of Design Studies. For more information, please contact the Course Coordinator.
Pathways to further study
On successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for entry into the Master of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Philosophy, provided you meet the entry requirements.
Professional recognition
Design component: Graduates qualify for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), the professional body for Australian designers.
Science component: Graduates of each Science major are eligible for full or associate membership of a number of discipline-based professional associations. Please refer to the Bachelor of Science for details.
Course Structures
In order to complete this course, you must complete a total of 384 credit points, made up of 192 credit points from the Bachelor of Design (Landscape Architecture) and 192 credit points from the Bachelor of Science. You will undertake the two components of the double degree concurrently:
Design component (totalling 144 credit points)
You will complete the Landscape Architecture Major, which incorporates eight Landscape Archetecture units (96 credit points) and four shared foundation units (48 credit points).
Science component (totalling 192 credit points)
You will complete 60 credit points of core units and a Science Major (132 credit points) in one of the following study areas:
- Biological Sciences
- Chemistry
- Earth Science
- Environmental Science
- Physics
