Study overseas
Study overseas while gaining credit towards your QUT degree with one of our worldwide exchange partners. Overseas study can be for one or two semesters (or during the semester break) and the units you take can be in either degree area, depending on how they match with your QUT course. For more information, visit student exchange.
Early exit
With appropriate unit selection, you may be able to exit early with either component single degree or DE44 Bachelor of Design Studies. For more information, please contact the Course Coordinator.
Pathways to further study
On successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for entry into DE83 Master of Architecture. This 2-year course will be offered from 2022.
On successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for entry into the Master of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Philosophy, provided you meet the entry requirements.
Note: Entry to graduate-entry teacher education courses usually requires that you have studied a range of units in a different subject area to the main focus of your degree. This forms the basis of your second teaching area. Check the entry requirements for specific teaching courses.
Professional recognition
Design component: Graduates qualify for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), the professional body for Australian designers.
Graduates of an accredited 2-year Master of Architecture course meet the academic requirements for membership of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA). Graduates who have also completed two years of practical architectural experience (at least one year postgraduate) will be eligible to undertake the Architectural Practice Examination which, if successful, will enable the graduate to be eligible for registration with any Board of Architects in Australia.
Quantity Survyeing and Cost Engineerng component: Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM).
