Overview
As a graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Renewable Energy you will emerge with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in Renewable Power Engineering or Renewable Energy Systems Engineering. By specialising in these areas, you will be building on the fundamental skills from the Bachelor of Engineering degree with valuable advanced knowledge and skills applicable to the renewable energy sector, while gaining the experience required to interface with various professionals in the renewable energy sector.
A vertical degree means you will graduate with a bachelor and master degree within five years, fast-tracking your ability to lead and contribute to complex renewable energy projects, and lead the future of sustainable energy and renewable power systems.
Work integrated learning
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is embedded in the curriculum, and is a core component for all engineering students.
WIL allows you to graduate with a portfolio of professional skills that provides evidence of your professional competencies. As part of the course requirements, you need to undertake 60 days of approved work experience in an engineering environment under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Please start planning your WIL in your second year of studies. After achieving 192 credit points in your single degree, you are eligible for an engineering related placement. Professional recognition
This course has professional accreditation from Engineers Australia (EA). EA is a signatory to the Washington Accord, which permits graduates to work in various countries across the world. This course is recognised internationally in the engineering profession, giving QUT graduates more career opportunities overseas. Full professional accreditation from Engineers Australia has been given for this course.
Study areas
Your degree begins with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at QUT. You will choose from two majors:
· Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical)
· Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical and renewable power)
In your fifth year, you will complete the Master of Renewable Energy, allowing you to graduate with two degrees in five years.

Pathways to further study
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF): This vertical degree includes an AQF Level 8 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and an AQF Level 9 Master of Renewable Energy. Graduates may be eligible for discipline-relevant doctoral-level programs.

Electrical engineers work with electrical energy in all its forms: from tiny electrons or microchips to large-scale electrical power generators. In addition to designing new products, electrical engineers construct, operate, and maintain a variety of electrical systems and equipment. Electrical and electronic engineers can specialise in different areas such as power generation, transmission and distribution; communications and electrical equipment manufacturing, or a specialty within one of these areas such as aviation electronics, satellite communications or industrial robotics.
