Guidelines for enrolment
Enrolment is undertaken on your Study Plan in HiQ. Read the information under the Course Structure tab, note your important enrolment key dates, then access your Study Plan to enrol.
Some units are offered in flexible teaching periods and are subject to different start dates and key dates compared to units offered in Semester 1 and Semester 2. All teaching period dates can be found on the QUT Academic Calendar.
You have 3 years to complete the Graduate Certificate in Education, including any approved leave of absence. If you need to take a break from your studies, you must apply for a leave of absence. If you defer your course, or are withdrawn from the course without an approved leave of absence, and subsequently apply for re-admission, you will be required to satisfy all course entry requirements, including any additional entry requirements in operation at the time of your readmission.
The First Nations Education Practice major is not recommended if you are an international student studying as a non-student visa holder or from your home country.
Course structures
You will complete a total of 48 credit points of core units.
If you prefer to study a mix of units from different majors you can select 48 credit points of option units and not complete a major. See Graduate Certificate in Education - Choice of Units.
Advanced standing (credit)

Professional recognition
The Graduate Certificate in Education does not lead to teacher's registration. Please refer to the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood), Master of Teaching (Primary) or the Master of Teaching (Secondary) if you are seeking teacher registration.
Pathways to further study
Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Education may apply for entry to the EU71 Master of Education, EU72 Master of Education (Early Childhood Teaching) or EU73 Master of Education (School Guidance and Counselling).

Domestic students may need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
