Study areas

The program offers two areas of study

Mechanical Engineering: students are assumed to be proficient in the general areas of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, materials or relevant disciplines.
• Electrical Engineering:   students are assumed to be proficient in the general area of electrical, electronics, communications or relevant disciplines.

Course structures

To graduate with a Master of Engineering you are required to complete 96 credit points of course units consisting of:

48 credit points of core engineering postgraduate units, including advanced research skills and research based project units, a professional practice unit and an advanced discipline unit. Plus 48 credit points of advanced discipline units from your specialisation (mechanical or electrical) to be selected from a list of options.

Pathways to further study

The Masters of Engineering is located at level 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework. Graduates that meet the GPA requirements, may be eligible to apply for discipline relevant Doctoral level studies.

Combined Masters Packages
Students admitted to a combined masters pathway (EN50 + PM20 Master of Project Management) may progress to their second degree on completion of the first and are referred to the combined package study plan for their chosen combination available on the course websites. Separate awards are granted for each degree completed.

Study costs

Domestic students may need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Course Structures

Part-time Study

This course is available for part-time study for February and Mid-year entry.

With part-time study your course is still required to be completed within the allocated maximum course completion time for your award level.

For your part-time study plan you can be guided by the course structures provided for full time study (February or Mid-year entry) by following a similar progression and unit selection sequence taking into account any pre-requisite knowledge requirements.

International Student Entry

You must maintain an enrolment program that will allow you to complete your course within the specified timeframe of your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).
