Overview
With a focus on innovation in design and sustainable development, a QUT Architecture degree will give you the skills and experience you need to design the cities and structures of our future.
Professional recognition
With an Architectural Design degree from QUT, you’ll be able to start your design career as a junior designer, draftsperson, set designer and more.
To become a registered architect, you’ll need to undertake two more years of study in our QUT Master of Architecture program. The next step is to attain practice experience working in architectural practice and then pass the Architectural Practice Exam to become a registered Architect in Australia and in affiliated international countries.
The Master of Architecture program is accredited by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia. Students and graduates of both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Architecture at QUT can join the Australian Institute of Architects.
Progression
Domestic students
Within two weeks of successfully completing this course with a minimum GPA of 4.50, you will be automatically offered a place in the Master of Architecture. Should you not take up this offer but wish to study the masters later, please lodge an application when you are ready to start studying the masters.
International students
If you have a package offer with the Master of Architecture, within two weeks of successfully completing the undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 4.50, your offer conditions will be satisfied and you will be invited to enrol in the masters.
If you do not have a package offer and you achieved a minimum GPA of 4.50, please lodge a new application to study the Master of Architecture.
Work integrated learning
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is embedded in the curriculum and is a core component for all Architectural Design students.
Complete 100 hours or the equivalent of 15 days of work placement as part of your course in third year and gain the skills and experience you need to step confidently into your future career. For questions or assistance, please contact the Faculty of Engineering Work Integrated Learning team at engineering.wil@qut.edu.au.
Study costs
Domestic students may need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
QUT You
QUT You provides interdisciplinary experiences that enhance critical and creative thinking, self-awareness, and digital skills, preparing students to create positive societal change.
